Ihr Werk setzt sich auf der Grundlage eines melancholischen Daseinsgef\u00fchls mit der menschlichen Stimme auseinander. In ihren akustischen Werken arbeitet sie meist ortsspezifisch. Bekannt wurde Philipsz 1999 mit a cappella gesungenen Liedern, f\u00fcr das Glasgow International Festival 2010 entwickelte sie nach einer Ballade aus dem 16. Jahrhundert das Werk Lowlands. Das Liebeslied \u2014 in drei Versionen gesungen, um unter drei Br\u00fccken in Glasgow \u00fcbertragen zu werden \u2014 wurde sp\u00e4ter an der Tate Britain in London zur Auff\u00fchrung gebracht. 2010 erhielt sie daf\u00fcr den renommierten Turner Prize.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Themen der Erinnerung, des Traumas und der Trauer finden in j\u00fcngster Zeit verst\u00e4rkt Beachtung, so auch in einer Arbeit von 2010 f\u00fcr das Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York und 2012 f\u00fcr die dOCUMENTA (13) am Bahnhofsgel\u00e4nde in Kassel. In der neuen Werkserie War Damaged Musical Instruments (2015) arbeitet sie mit Instrumenten, die im Zweiten Weltkrieg besch\u00e4digt wurden. F\u00fcr ihr aktuelles Projekt f\u00fcr das Kunsthaus Bregenz bildet Peter Zumthors Architektur, konzipiert als Leuchtk\u00f6rper zwischen Berg und See im Wechselspiel unterschiedlicher Lichtverh\u00e4ltnisse und in dem f\u00fcr die Stadt charakteristischen Nebel, den Ausgangspunkt. Nebel als Metapher war auch titelgebend f\u00fcr den franz\u00f6sischen Dokumentarfilm Night and Fog (1955) von Alain Resnais, der die Deportationen in die Lager Auschwitz und Majdanek rekonstruiert \u2014 und die Erinnerung an diesen Orten selbst zum Thema macht. Philipsz zerlegt die von Hanns Eisler f\u00fcr den Kurzfilm komponierte Musik in die einzelnen Stimmen der Instrumente. Voneinander isoliert und aus der Gesamtkomposition gerissen, f\u00fcllen deren Timbres die archaisch wirkenden R\u00e4ume des Kunsthauses mit fast skulpturaler Pr\u00e4senz.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>\u00bbI see the voice as a means to infiltrate spaces, like a ghost in the machine, and return experience to a human scale. I also see the voice as a means to address people both individually and as a collective.
