Faszination Afrika und Ozeanien, die gro\u00dfe Herbstausstellung des Leopold Museum fokussiert erstmals die umfangreichen hauseigenen Sammlungsbest\u00e4nde afrikanischer und ozeanischer Kunst. Diese treten in einen Dialog mit ausgew\u00e4hlten Werken von Protagonisten der Klassischen Moderne. Die Schau intendiert, Europas exotistisches Kunstabenteuer und den Einflu\u00df auf die Avantgarde in Erinnerung zu rufen. Museumsgr\u00fcnder Rudolf Leopold teilte die Begeisterung, welche die K\u00fcnstler der Moderne f\u00fcr diese Objekte hegten. Die Faszination, die von der Kunst \u201efremder\u201c Kulturen ausgeht, spiegelte sich in zahlreichen Werken der Klassischen Moderne wider. Dies wird in der Ausstellung im Dialog der Masken und Figuren mit Werken von Pablo Picasso, Constantin Br\u00e2ncu\u0219i, Emil Nolde oder Max Ernst intensiv erfahrbar. Gleichzeitig wird der verfremdende, \u201eprimitivistische\u201c Blick der Moderne auf Afrika und Ozeanien durch den zeitgen\u00f6ssischen K\u00fcnstler Kader Attia aus postkolonialer Perspektive hinterfragt.
