Er hat in den vergangenen vier Jahrzehnten eine beachtliche Sammlung zusammen-getragen, die bedeutende Werke der international-en klassischen Moderne bis hin zu zentralen Positionen der Nach-kriegskunst umfasst. In der Orangerie im Unteren Belvedere werden vom 17. Februar bis 11. Juni 2017 insgesamt 193 Werke von mehr als f\u00fcnfzig K\u00fcnstlerinnen und K\u00fcnstlern aus dieser Sammlung gezeigt. Der Hauptfokus liegt dabei auf Portr\u00e4tdarstellungen der unterschied-lichsten K\u00fcnstler, etwa von Francis Bacon oder dem nahezu unbekannten Armand Fran\u00e7ois Henrion. Im \u00fcbertragenen Sinn wird es dadurch m\u00f6glich, der Moderne in ihrer Vielfalt ein Gesicht zu geben. Die Sammlung Klewan zeichnet sich nicht nur durch die Vielgestaltigkeit der gesammelten Positionen aus, sondern auch durch eine selbstbestimmte Rezeption. So haben auch ausgefallene Werke der Kitschrezeption darin ihren Platz. Eine Besonderheit stellt au\u00dferdem die Sammlung von Schl\u00fcsselwerken der \u00f6sterreichischen Kunst seit 1945 dar. Helmut Klewan pflegte Kontakt mit bedeutenden \u00f6sterreichischen K\u00fcnstlerinnen und K\u00fcnstlern, darunter Arnulf Rainer, Maria Lassnig oder Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
