Seit \u00fcber vierzig Jahren erkundet Welling die Grundlagen des Mediums und sch\u00f6pft dabei das breite Spektrum an konzeptuellen, \u00e4sthetischen und technologischen M\u00f6glichkeiten aus ohne sich auf eine bestimmte Bildsprache oder Produktionsform festzulegen. Seine Arbeiten umspannen Analoges und Digitales, Farbe und Schwarz-Wei\u00df, kameralose und kamerabasierte Verfahren, Dunkelkammer-Alchemie und High-End-Digitaldruck. Mit einer umfassenden Auswahl von fotografischen Serien, aber auch Videos und Skulpturen, die Welling von den 1970er-Jahren bis heute geschaffen hat, veranschaulicht diese erste Retrospektive in \u00d6sterreich, wie seine Arbeit nicht nur Br\u00fccken zwischen verschiedenen Medien schl\u00e4gt, sondern auch zwischen Dokumentation und Abstraktion, Konzept und Emotion, Gegenwart und Vergangenheit. Die Ausstellung ist von 5. Mai bis 16. Juli 2017 im Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien zu sehen.
