In pointierten Darstellungen und bissigen Satiren reagierte Mikl auf seine Zeitgenossen und die Kunstszene dieser Zeit. Es entstanden abenteuerliche Geschichten wie etwa in den Skizzenheften \u201eWunderpferd\u201c und \u201eKulturtagung in Worpswede\u201c. Mit seiner wohl bekanntesten Figur, der Journalistenfresserin Hawranek, schaffte er sich ein Ventil gegen\u00fcber Kritik: \u201eVor vielen Jahren, als die Erde noch flach was, zerbiss die Hawranek schon Zeitungen und Redakteure.\u201c Wie wichtig ihm sein satirisches Werk schlie\u00dflich war, beweisen seine sieben Publikationen, die er ab den 60er Jahren \u2013 gro\u00dfteils im Selbstverlag \u2013 ver\u00f6ffent-lichte. Mit der Schenkung werden nun auch Skizzenb\u00fccher und -hefte pr\u00e4sentiert, die bisher der \u00d6ffentlichkeit weitgehend verborgen blieben. Einige der Arbeiten sind in sich geschlossene Bild-Text-Kombinationen, andere wiederum beinhalten oft nur wenige Seiten umfassende Gedanken. Dank der nun erfolgten Aufarbeitung erweist sich sein satirisches Werk als noch viel umfangreicher als urspr\u00fcnglich angenommen. Der K\u00fcnstler trennte diese Gesellschaftssatire von seinem malerischen Werk, das mit den Decken- und Wandbildern im Gro\u00dfen Redoutensaal der Wiener Hofburg nach dem Brand von 1992 einen H\u00f6hepunkt erreichte. Durch den in dieser Ausstellung gelegten Fokus auf das satirische Werk werden Mikls Pers\u00f6nlichkeit, seine Sicht auf Zeitgenossen und die Kulturszene n\u00e4her beleuchtet. [Foto: MUSA &#8211; 1.
