M\u00e4rz 2018 die erste umfassende Ausstellung von Axel H\u00fcttes fotografischem Werk in \u00d6sterreich. H\u00fctte, der 1951 in Essen geboren wurde und heute in D\u00fcsseldorf lebt und arbeitet, z\u00e4hlt zu den f\u00fchrenden ProtagonisIinnen der aktuellen Landschaftsfotografie; er hat wesentlich zum Selbst-bewusstsein der Fotografie in der bildenden Kunst ab den sp\u00e4ten 1970er- Jahren beige-tragen. Mit seinen Kolleginnen und Kollegen der D\u00fcsseldorfer Becher-Schule wie Candida H\u00f6fer, Andreas Gursky oder Thomas Struth steht H\u00fctte f\u00fcr den Tableaucharakter des Fotos als gleichwertiges Gegenst\u00fcck zum Gem\u00e4lde. Axel H\u00fcttes k\u00fcnstlerisches Werk setzt in den sp\u00e4ten 1970er-Jahren mit einer starken Versachlichung der Realit\u00e4t von Portr\u00e4ts und urbanen Innen- und Au\u00dfenr\u00e4umen ein. Im Laufe der fr\u00fchen 1990er- Jahre vergr\u00f6\u00dfert der K\u00fcnstler das Bildformat deutlich und die Landschaft wird das bestimmende Thema. Im Unterschied zu den fr\u00fchen dokumentarischen Arbeiten haben die neueren, gro\u00dfformatigen Werke eine eher imaginative und halluzinatorische Dimension. In der Ausstellung in der Kunsthalle Krems wird vor allem ein Dialog zwischen \u00e4lteren Zyklen und neueren Werkbl\u00f6cken mit gleichen Themenbereichen pr\u00e4sentiert. Eigens f\u00fcr die Kunsthalle Krems entstand ein Zyklus imperialer Bauten und R\u00e4ume, die in \u00f6sterreich-ischen Palais, Schl\u00f6ssern und Stiften \u2013 Melk, Altenburg, St. Florian, Belvedere \u2013 aufgenommen wurden.
