M\u00e4rz 2019. Sie bietet mit Prototypen, Einzelst\u00fccken und Rarit\u00e4ten eine Zeitreise vom Design zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts \u00fcber die 1950er Jahre bis hin zu Arbeiten von zeitgen\u00f6ssischen Design-Stars. Die gl\u00e4serne Tischplatte scheint auf den luftig wirkenden Schleifenformen in Bronze schier zu schweben, dem Gesetz der Schwerkraft zu trotzen. Nastro, ital. Band, hat Universaltalent Giacomo Manz\u00f9 (geb. 1908, gest. 1991) das f\u00fcr sein Haus entworfene Unikat betitelt, welches nun direkt aus Familienbesitz in die Auktion kommt (Sch\u00e4tzwert \u20ac 130.000 \u2013 180.000). Diese speziellen Sinuskurven, die er sp\u00e4ter f\u00fcr Monumente, Juwelen und Tische verwendete, hat Manz\u00f9, wie er selbst sagte, im Zuge einer Skulpturenserie erfunden. Normalerweise sind abstrakte Formen eher un\u00fcblich bei dem Bildhauer. Ein Bronze-Ast war etwa Bestandteil eines Tisches, ebenfalls Einzelst\u00fcck aus Familienbesitz, der im Vorjahr bei der Dorotheum-Auktion Design First 271.400 Euro erzielte. Raffiniert und praktisch kann man die M\u00f6belkreationen eines der renommiertesten franz\u00f6sischen Designer der 1950er Jahre nennen: Mathieu Mat\u00e9got zeigt in dieser Auktion seinen nur zwei Mal ausgef\u00fchrten \u201eSantiago\u201c-Tisch aus dem Jahr 1954\/55. Der u. a. f\u00fcr seine CD-Coverentw\u00fcrfe f\u00fcr Lou Reed, die Rolling Stones und Talking Heads ber\u00fchmte \u00d6sterreicher begab sich mit dieser Ausstellung \u2013 und einem Kinofilm \u2013 auf die Suche nach dem Gl\u00fcck. Seine sechsteilige Arbeit MONEY DOES NOT MAKE ME HAPPY, Digiprints auf Aluminium, wird u. a. in der Design-First-Auktion versteigert (\u20ac 12.000 \u2013 20.000). Au\u00dferdem: Seine Rauminstallation mit Fahrrad auf einem Aluminium-podest und Neonschrift-Tafeln \u201eActually Doing The Things I Set Out to Do Increases my Overall Level of Satisfaction\u201c, die beim Treten der Pedale zu leuchten beginnen (\u20ac 40.000 \u2013 70.000). Die Stahldraht-Bank \u201eSphere\u201c von Thomas Feichtner, wurde erstmals 2018 im Rahmen der Vienna Design Week im Dorotheum pr\u00e4sentiert. Mithilfe digitaler Produktionsmethoden und modernster Schwei\u00dftechnik entstand diese sph\u00e4rische Fl\u00e4che.
