Ihre kraftvolle, expressive und v\u00f6llig neue Bildsprache war Ausdruck eines individuellen Lebensgef\u00fchls. Mithilfe von radikal subjektiven Bildformeln und Farben von einzigartiger Intensit\u00e4t legten die \u00bbExpressionisten\u00ab einen Grundstein f\u00fcr das moderne Verst\u00e4ndnis des K\u00fcnstlers in der Gesellschaft. Die Formverzerrungen, die \u00dcberbetonung der Umrisslinien, die radikale Reduktion auf das \u00acWesenhafte und eine h\u00f6chst eigenwillige Interpretation der Perspektive provozierten das b\u00fcrgerliche Publikum und r\u00fcttelten am althergebrachten Kunstbegriff. Das in der westf\u00e4lischen Industriestadt Hagen gelegene Osthaus Museum geht zur\u00fcck auf den deutschen Industriellen Karl Ernst Osthaus (1874\u20131921) und beherbergte bis 1921 das ber\u00fchmte Folkwang Museum, ehe die gesamte Sammlung von den Erben des Museumsgr\u00fcnders nach Essen verkauft wurde. In der Folge wurde in Hagen eine neue umfangreiche Sammlung moderner Kunst mit Schwerpunkt Deutscher Expressionismus und zeitgen\u00f6ssische Kunst aufgebaut. Die Ausstellung pr\u00e4sentiert eine Auswahl von rund 30 Gem\u00e4lden und 80 Papierarbeiten aller Hauptvertreter des deutschen Expressionismus, darunter die Br\u00fccke-K\u00fcnstler Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Otto Mueller <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-9651\" title=\"Otto Mueller, M\u00e4dchen am Wasser, um 1926 \u00a9 Courtesy of Osthaus Museum Hagen &amp; Institut f\u00fcr Kulturaustausch, T\u00fcbingen\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kunstinvestor.at\/aktuell\/wp-content\/uploads\/2726.jpg\" alt=\"2726\" width=\"322\" height=\"241\" \/>und Karl Schmidt-Rottluff sowie die Vertreter der Neuen K\u00fcnstlervereinigung M\u00fcnchen und des Blauen Reiter Gabriele M\u00fcnter, Alexej von Jawlensky oder Franz Marc.
