Oktober 2015 eine Personale der K\u00fcnstlerin Johanna Kandl. Zu sehen sind \u00fcberwiegend neue Arbeiten aus dem Atelier, bei denen sie der Malerei buchst\u00e4blich auf den Grund geht und deren Ausgangsmaterialien wie Terpentin, Gummi arabicum, Mastix, Perlleim oder Lein\u00f6l auf ihre Stofflichkeit und Herstellung untersucht. Kandl legt dabei globale wirtschaftliche und kulturgeschichtliche Zusammen-h\u00e4nge offen, thematisiert die Produktionsbedingungen und die Menschen dahinter, aber auch die Geschichte des Materials. Die in Berlin und Wien lebende K\u00fcnstlerin nimmt eine singul\u00e4re Position in der gegenst\u00e4ndlichen Malerei \u00d6sterreichs ein. Im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen zeitgen\u00f6ssischen MalerInnen, die auf von Massenmedien produzierte Bilder zur\u00fcckgreifen und diese bearbeiten, setzt sich Kandl mit gesellschaftlichen Begebenheiten auseinander, die sie selbst erfahren hat. Ob kleinst\u00e4dtische M\u00e4rkte, prek\u00e4re Arbeitsverh\u00e4ltnisse oder die Anbaugebiete f\u00fcr Terpentin und Gummi Arabicum: die auf Reisen gemachten Eindr\u00fccke verwandelt Kandl in eine farbenfrohe Malerei mit stark konsumkritischer Botschaft.
